This Thursday, master of satire Marcus Brigstocke, impro godfather Alan Marriott and comedy Wunderkind Brendan Murphy join GTI! 8.30pm at The Wheatsheaf. £5.50 at grandtheftimpro.com/tickets. £7 on the door.
Alan Marriott: founder of Grand Theft Impro, Alan returns to London from his native Toronto for a flying visit. A voice-over maestro, it is he, not Neil Morrissey, who will forever be Bob the Builder to the youth of America. He was in The Reduced Shakespeare Company, brought Theatresports to London and devised or co-devised Hamlet Improvised, The Impro Musical and Impropera. He is teaching some impro workshops while he’s in town – hey, why don’t you sign up for one here?
Brendan Murphy: actor, improviser and character comedian extraordinaire, Brendan has just returned from a triumphant run of Potted Potter in Chicago, in which he played literally everyone except Harry. He took last year’s Edinburgh Fringe by storm with his début solo show, BAGMAN, and as part of improvised ensemble The Beau Zeaux. Co-founder of improvised theatre company The One-Hour Plays and member of award-winning group BattleActs, he has toured all over the UK, including Latitude, Bestival and End of the Road.
Marcus Brigstocke is probably on the wireless RIGHT NOW in The Brig Society. Other radio includes I’ve Never Seen Star Wars, The Now Show and Giles Wemmbley-Hogg Goes Off. TV includes Sorry, I’ve Got No Head, Have I Got News For You and Live at the Apollo. Impro includes The Comedy Store Players, Totally Looped and The Beau Zeaux. His stage appearances include Spamalot, The Railway Children and a recent outing as Captain Hook in Peter Pan, complete with mind-blowing lip-sync of Boom! Shake the Room.
